Now we got it traced out a little bit there one more time. And now I’m going to come along with a bigger bit and.. once again… Trim away some of this wood on the outside. For the most part… to do your carving, you’re going to be using these four bits. Later on for the smoothing up and the finer details we’ll get into some of the other bits. But these will do most of what you want to do. Now… the smaller one… I used to trace around that stuff. Now I’m going to move up to the bigger one to clear a little bit more wood away from here. Then gradually step up to that next size bit and pull a little more wood away. Then I’ll finally go to that one to do…. the big areas of cleaning back over here. See if I can give you a better view of these. Oh yeah! Much better. Those are the basic bits you’re going to be using. Now we’re gonna come in here with the bit that’s the next size up.. soon as I get you where I want you…. And clear out some more of that. (music) And you’ll see, now that we’re getting a little bit deeper…. you can move a little bit faster. And work a little bit faster. Now we’re going to move up to the next size bit.. And take a little bit more away from… get it further away from there. Because when we move over to… To this larger size bit, I don’t want to be bumpin out and take a great big ole chunk of that away. Ok… went up to a bigger bit. We’re going to start taking away some of this stuff here. And right now I’m not going to worry so much…. about what this looks like right here. As far as it being smooth and everything because… I’m going to go back and stipple that and… It’s just not all that important right now. Now if you want that to be kinda smooth… I’ll show you how I’d go about doing that. Guess what! It involves a chisel! lol (love me some chisels) Just… the same way you’d chisel anything else. And this is actually faster than the Dremel for doing this part of it. And of course they’ve got hand wood carving tools that you can… get into the little bits and pieces there. But.. if you want a smoother finish, that’s one way to go about it. Me? I’m going to stick with the Dremel tool for right now. And no, you can not get out of wood work without sanding. I’m sorry. 🙁 Right now I’m just trying to clean it up a little bit. And trying to make it look like somethin. Before I go in there trying to shape it. Ya know. Try and get some of this fuzz and stuff outta there. So I can see what I’m doin. Ok.. now for the shaping. First… I’m going to start by cleaning up along the edges in here. See where uhh… it’s just kind of raggedy in there. I’m going to take this smaller bit… and go up in there around the edges there. Clean it up a little bit. And you’ll see here in a little bit.. what I’m doing and why. lol… maybe not why, but you’ll see what I’m doin. 🙂 You’ll find yourself doing this with the sand paper quite a bit. Just part of the nature of the beast. Now, here’s where… your creativity’s got to come in. You kinda got to play around with it and figure out… How you want to do your details and stuff. If you’ve got a project… that… they want a specific thing. You may want to practice on a… scrap piece of wood before you go actually putting it on that project. So, I’m going to show you some of the things that I might do. Or do do or… might do… possibly do… It all kinda comes to me as I go. And you’ll find that depending on the block of wood, you’re going to have to work like that too. At least I believe you will. Let’s get to it. Bozzie bozzie bop zitty bop. You don’t need to go too fast on this. Kind of adjust the speed on your Dremel, if you have that much of a speed adjustment on it… To what suits you… what you feel comfortable with. Ok, that’s it for this one. I was hoping I’d get a little bit more of the shaping in this one but… I don’t want to skip over anything either. So we’ll get more into the shaping on the next one. And I’m goin to try… get into… that second level… or second layer… second stage, and actually put a design behind the front design. Which we’ll go through that one a little bit quicker than I been going through this first one. Because you’ve already seen what I do. It’s the same… basic steps. You’ve just gone down a layer on the wood. Anyway… I’m going to quit ramblin. Thank you for watching. Please give me a thumbs up. Please like me on Facebook. Link’s down in the description.
