The last coffee table I made I gave to a girlfriend who broke up with me like a week later. When I’m woodworking it’s easy to focus, just… like what’s directly in front of me. It requires kind of a keen eye and a patience and a slowness. I love the challenge of working with reclaimed lumber and trying to figure out how to put a project together with used materials. I try to think about how I can reduce the amount of waste So if I’m making cuts, what can I do with those extra cuts? From there, I’ll basically plane it, sand it, throw some legs on it and polish it up and finish it. That’s really satisfying, to see an end product go from, maybe a raw material to a completed coffee table or planter.
